Aylesford Bulls RFC

20 - 15

(HT 0-0)

Westcombe Park RFC

Aylesford Bulls continued their unbeaten home record with a hard-fought victory over a well-drilled Westcombe Park side.
But it would be Park who would get off to the better start, their inside centre shooting through a gap and under the posts following a well-worked move. The try was unconverted. 0-5.
Captain Ben Pass sponsored by Ron Bryant would pull Bulls level 10 minutes later, trundling over the line from the back of a powerful driving maul.
Park hit back with a converted score soon after the break before debutant flanker Gregoire Caron again levelled the score minutes later, crashing over from two metres out following a strong move off a scrum.
Park then pulled themselves three points clear from the penalty spot before fly half Paul Cooper nudged Bulls level.
But it would be Tom Hughes who would snatch victory, finishing a brilliant move that had started in Bulls’ half.
Luke Stroud showcased footballing ability with a deft grubber kick which was gathered by fellow centre Ben Ashdown who fed Cooper who then found Hughes in space out wide with a second grubber.
The move capped a good afternoon of attacking rugby for the hosts and brought the full-time score to 20-15.
After the game Pass said: “We’re really building as a team at the moment. The cohesion and enjoyment is the highest it’s been in a few years. It just shows we’re here to dominate this league with the group of boys we have.”
Bulls, fifth in Counties 2, have a rest week this Saturday before a tough fixture away to third-placed Park House on Saturday, December 2.
