On Sunday, 17th September, the Ayelsford Bulls Ladies travelled to Heathfeild and Waldron for their very first NC1 match. With excitement running high the girls put in a valiant effort through the whole game.
Playing with their usual heart the ladies held a tough opposition for a good length of the game. The hot, muggy weather brought and extra challenge to the game that the ladies dealt with well. The opposition scored first but this didn’t deter the Bulls who responded quickly with a great try from Csilla and a wonderful conversion kick from Yasmin.
Although a few more tries came in from the home team it didn’t stop the Bulls from fighting in defensive and working hard to prove themselves in the new league. Winning penalties at the scrum and performing some effective driving mauls the forwards put their heart into the game. Alongside them the backs ran some great lines and put to work their tackling skills in defence.
The whole team performed brilliantly and all brought something to the game. This Sunday’s forward of the match was awarded to Katie Rolfe for her efforts in the scrum and rucks. Back of the match was awarded to a highly deserving Yasmin Mayhew for her brilliant efforts in both attack and defence.
The tough opposition gave they squad a good look into the level of NC1 and they left feel positive and confident for the challenges ahead. This team continue to show what they are all about and will take this game and it’s lessons with them in to the season ahead.
This Sunday the Ladies play their first home game against Dartford Valley. Get down to the club and support the ladies in their next fixture.
