Aylesford Bulls delivered their most comprehensive performance of the season, demolishing local rivals Maidstone 53-5.
In front of raucous home support Bulls ran in seven tries, with flying winger Tom Hughes bagging an exquisite hat trick.
Maidstone didn’t make it easy for the hosts, providing a physical challenge early on and embarking on a few weaving runs.
But the first score came after eight minutes thanks to the quick thinking of scrum half Luke Curtis, taking a tap free kick and feeding fly half George Ayers who jinked through flailing arms.
Hughes scored hie first try 10 minutes later, getting on the end of a perfectly weighted cross field kick from Ayers and scooting under the posts.
And minutes after that he made it two, intercepting well within his own half and screaming down the touch line.
Having converted all three tries he then added a penalty before the half was up to bring the score to 24-0 after forty minutes.
The second half played out in much the same fashion, Hughes adding an assist early on with an offload to veteran full back Dion Comerford who dived over out wide. The conversion fell short.
Maidstone hit back with a fine solo try before Bulls extended their lead with a penalty.
Imposing second row Luke Garnham scored minutes later, gathering a kick 10 meters out and brushing off a few unenthusiastic tackles.
Flanker Ed Mead then joined the party, crossing out wide after a Fin Ashdown-Denney break. Ashdown-Denney then added the extras with a spectacular effort from the touchline.
It fell to Hughes to close his account with a relatively simple run in under the posts. Ashdown-Denney added the extras to bring the final score to 53-5.
Bulls, now fifth in Counties Two, have a week off before facing Thanet away on Saturday, November 9. This Saturday, Bulls 2nd XV are in Kent Shield action against Ashford at the Jack Williams Ground while the 3rd XV also face Ashford at home.
