Aylesford Bulls beat the storm but fell agonisingly short against Old Alleynians.
Storm Darragh brought torrid conditions to the Jack Williams Ground on Saturday and threatened kick off but after a half hour delay proceedings got underway.
It wasn’t long before speedster Tom Hughes warmed spirits, crossing for a converted score, tight head prop Jordan O’Leary then barrelled over before OAs hit back with two of their own to make it 12-10.
O’Leary was sent off for foul play with 30 minutes to go. When Christian Dolley dotted down it looked like Bulls had beaten the odds but an OAs penalty and late try clinched it for them. Final score: 17-18.
Bulls, now seventh in Counties Two, welcome Westcombe Park on Saturday.
Bulls 2nd XV went down 26-19 against a strong Tunbridge Wells side.
Unbeaten Bulls Ladies are back in action on Sunday when they face Thanet away in a top-of-the-table clash.
