It was Sunday 9th March, skies blue, sunglasses on and time for Bulls Vs Bromley at home.
Bull’s boys donning their blue and red with the visitors opting for Black and Yellow.
Bulls kicked off the game and we were off. Bull’s backs were quick off the mark and immediately putting pressure on the visitors, passing down the line and forcing Bromley to defend hard and stop our attack from the left. To defend the pressure, Bromley had no choice but to kick, allowing Hugo our Full Back to recover the ball, pop up to Ben, 2nd row, who then passed onto Finley, IC, who charged up the right side. Bromley defended hard to try and stifle the Bulls, but this was met with equal defence and determination, rucking over and winning back the ball when no longer in our possession.
Halfway through the first half and both sides were evenly matched. Minute 13 saw Thomas, Right Wing, charge forward making great ground and putting pressure on the opposition which allowed Felix, Bulls Fly Half to see an opportunity and run through the Bromley defensive line scoring Bulls 1st try of the game.
Ben, second row and Cohen Left Wing come off minute 14, subbed by Harrison G and Finlay. In response to the try, Bromley went on the attack forcing Bulls to keep a strong defensive line to not allow their competitors through. Bull’s fly half’s kick halfway down the pitch allowed Bulls the breathing space that they needed to reset. Scrum down in the last minute of the first half saw Bulls lose possession through putting but a Bromley forward pass saw a second scrum down. Bromley winning the scrum down gave them an opportunity to advance, but swiftly stopped in their tracks by Thomas, Bulls right wing, making an amazing tackle and not allowing Bromley to proceed with their advantage.
Second half kicked off by Bromley, caught by Harris, fed to Felix who then weaved through the opposition, getting Bull’s second try in minute 2 of the second half.
The second half saw both sides putting equal pressure on one another, defending hard and looking for opportunities to break the oppositions defensive line. Bromley kept up the pressure on the Bulls, but a pressure that was equally responded too and saw the Bulls win back the ball and with such commitment saw a player lose their boot. In response to Bromley’s attack Felix kicked away the ball which was charged down by Harris and saw him take the rest of the field, giving Bulls their 3rd try of the game in minute 8 of the second half.
The opposition had no option but to try and respond and ramped up the pressure on Bull’s which was met with Oscar defending with a beautiful tackle, causing them to drop the ball on the try line, meaning scrum down. Bull’s won the scrum, which allowed the fly half to kick down the pitch, caught by Bromley who were stopped in their tracks by Thomas.
The battle continued and in minute 18 of the second half saw Bromley break through the Bull’s defensive line and score their first try of the game.
Finally in the last couple of minutes of the game, Oscar V, 2nd row, collided heads with a Bromley player but taking it like a champ was subbed by Danny to see the team through the final moments. Bulls fought hard and kept their defence strong, Bromley snuck through in the final moment of the game .
Thomas was awarded parents choice and Finlay top banana (managers player)- well deserved!
