A good, solid, comfortable win to start the New Year and this should give the team confidence going into the league game next weekend. Everyone got significant game time, allowing all players to blow out the excesses of Christmas. Despite our slow start, where we failed to match their intensity, and uncharacteristic missed first up tackles we managed to put some decent phases together as the half went on and scored 2 good tries to lead 14-10 at the break. With 10 subs on at half time we took the game by the scruff of the neck and scored a further 5 tries to run out comfortable winners. Despite the narrow pitch and stop-start nature of the game there were some exciting passages of play. Tommo's try at the end was fantastic, with almost the whole team contributing to go 85 metres to score. When the team plays with that ambition and executes it, it is a joy to watch.

The league game versus Old Alleynians next Sunday will be a harder prospect and we will focus our efforts on Thursday's training on making our strike plays more clinical, our kick off receipts tidier and our lineouts slicker.
