Aylesford Bulls began their 2025/26 league campaign on Saturday with a challenging away fixture against newly promoted Beckenham 2s. The hosts came out firing, racing to a 10-0 lead within the first 15 minutes through a converted try and penalty. Despite the early setback, the Bulls responded with determination. Debutant winger Joe Temperton sparked the comeback with a well-taken try, and Fin Ashdown-Denney added the conversion and a penalty to level the score by halftime.
The second half saw Aylesford showcase their strength in the scrum and flashes of attacking intent. Beckenham regained the lead, but the Bulls stayed in the fight. A powerful line break from back rower Kieran Gray set the stage for centre Ewan Bruce to cross the line, narrowing the gap once more.
While the Bulls couldn’t quite convert their momentum into a win - hampered by handling errors and missed opportunities - they showed resilience and glimpses of their potential. Beckenham sealed the match with a late converted try, nudging Aylesford just outside bonus point range.
It wasn’t the result the Bulls hoped for, but there were encouraging signs from new faces and set-piece dominance. With lessons learned and plenty to build on, Aylesford turn their focus to this Saturday’s home clash against Tonbridge Juddians 2s, eager to channel their pre-season form into a strong performance.
