Medway RFC

8 - 48

(HT 0-0)

Aylesford Bulls RFC

Aylesford Bulls continued to climb the league with an emphatic victory on the road at Medway.
Under grey skies at Priestfields both sides battled hard in the first half, a fiercely contested set piece and physical defending limiting the scoreline to 8-10.
Medway took three points from the early exchanges before Bulls fly half Si Rumsey fizzed a pass wide for full back Joe Temperton to scamper over.
Medway burrowed over to claw back the lead before Fin Ashdown-Denney slotted a penalty to nudge Bulls in front at the break.
As the sun broke out of the heavens in the second half the game came alive, favouring a young Bulls backline marshalled expertly by Rumsey.
Bulls scrum kicked into gear, turning Medway over five metres out. Phil Wilkins picked and went and came up just short allowing scrum half Josh Pettitt to bag his first of two. Ashdown-Denney added the extras.
Bulls had hit their stride and it was Rumsey again who threw a looping miss pass to winger Sam Tripp who crossed in the corner for another converted score.
The Bulls line out, executed well throughout, provided the base for a powerful maul which trundled 20 metres before running out of steam two metres from the line. From the base, Pettitt sold a beautiful dummy and jinked inside for his second.
Pettitt was on hand moments later to collect a kick and offload to winger Christian Dolley who ran it in from the half way.
Ashdown-Denney was next on the score sheet, diving on his own grubber to finish off a fantastic team try before adding the conversion.
And it fell to him to have the final say, intercepting on Bulls 10 and running it in under the posts.
Bulls, now sixth in Counties 2, host Thanet on Saturday.
