Aylesford Bulls RFC

29 - 27

(HT 0-0)

Thanet Wanderers RUFC

Aylesford Bulls continued a fine run of form on a rollercoaster afternoon at a packed Jack Williams Ground.
Fresh from a thumping victory on the road at Medway, Bulls welcomed high-flying Thanet.
In a stellar first half the hosts ran up a commanding three-try lead.
Tom Hughes piled more points onto an already impressive season’s tally with a brace, both converted by Fin Ashdown-Denney.
He broke the deadlock after 25 minutes with a wonderful interception on his own 10 metres, cantering in under the posts unchallenged.
A decent break by James Alexander and audacious offload from Addison Geer gave him his second three minutes later.
Captain Ben Pass then crossed for another converted score.
But Thanet, determined not to let a hour-plus yomp along the M2 go to waste, launched an impressive fight back in the second 40.
They clawed back a penalty but Bulls responded through Addison Geer, Hughes chipping a spilled ball down field for the centre to pounce on.
Thanet hit back with a converted try before Ashdown-Denney stretched the lead to 29-10 with a penalty.
A late surge from the visitors, aided by poor discipline by Bulls, saw them power over three times.
But it was just about too little too late and Bulls clung on for a 29-27 win.
Bulls, sixth in Counties Two, travel to Vigo on Saturday.
