Aylesford Bulls RFC

56 - 26

(HT 0-0)

Vigo RFC

It was a dream start for the hooker, trundling over from the back of a maul after just five minutes.
In blustery conditions Fin Ashdown-Denney pulled the conversion wide but had a chance to redeem himself minutes later after rampaging centre James Alexander brushed off defenders to dot down under the posts.
Ashdown-Denney added a penalty after Vigo infringed at the ruck.
Pass’ second was a carbon copy of his first, but faced with another tricky angle Ashdown-Denney couldn’t add the extras.
Vigo hit back with two converted tries to close the gap to six points.
But Bulls had the final say of the half, the ball shipped smartly through the hands to give prolific winger Tom Hughes one of his simplest finishes of the season.
Number eight Phil Wilkins got on the scoreboard 10 minutes into the second period, dotting down from the back of a dominant scrum.
He made it two moments later, opting for route one against a floundering Vigo defence. Ashdown-Denney knocked a simple kick over.
Bulls broke up field immediately from the kick off, Luke Garnham making hard yards before offloading to Hughes who galloped in with little trouble. Ashdown-Denney’s kick took the score to 44-14.
Vigo’s risky decision to kick sloppy ball cross field was rewarded with a decent score down the wing.
But Ashdown-Denney soon cancelled it out, sniping from the base of a ruck and twisting his way through tackles and over the line. He converted his own score to make it 51-19.
Bulls’ ninth and final try was the pick of the bunch, Hughes scything through from his 22 and hurling a pass wide.
The ball made its way to Addison Geer who dodged several tackles before offloading to Alexander, who showed a clean pair of heels to go in under the posts. Ashdown-Denney converted to make it 56-19.
Vigo would have the final say, though, cutting through the midfield for a bonus-point try. Final score: 56-26.
Bulls 2nd XV continued a fine run of form with a 34-57 win on the road at Ashford Barbarians.
