Academy match report Vs Tonbridge Juddians B - Lost 31-36
Scorers - Ed T 3C; Cam T; Ruald T; Ted T; Nat T
MOTM - Jack Bartlett. A terrific shift both in attack and defence. Always ready to carry and did so effectively, making some big dents in the opposition defence. Good tackling and aggressive at the breakdown.
One that got away. Should have been a win but a good middle period was spoiled by a slow start and an indisciplined 10 minutes at the end when TJs scored 3 unanswered tries.
Despite the loss, there were plenty of positives and lots to learn. Some good individual performances across the park and the unstructured play was imaginative. However, as we expected, with a team that had never played together, the structure and cohesion were just off.
Work Ons
* Discipline in defence - 13 second half penalties really hurt.
* Attacking shape - need to maintain depth and execute more effectively.
* Managing and adapting the ref better.
We will be better for the run out and look forward to next Sunday's game against Maidstone.
